SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's soccer team suffered a 6-0 loss to Union on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet Chargers (4-2-1) scored all six goals in the first half.

Union scored two goals in the opening three minutes, with Anabelle Thomas finding the back of the net 23 seconds into the first half. Vanessa Jorgensen scored off a Thomas assist at 3:29 to make it 2-0. Oneonta took a pair of shots from junior Dominique DiOrio (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) and junior Brenna Mast (Croghan, NY/Beaver River), but could not find the back of the net. Union added another goal from Thomas at 10:38 to go ahead 3-0.

The Garnet Chargers scored again at 36:00 from Julia Bancheri, and then added another two in the 41st minute from Maeve Moran and Dakota Hebert.

Neither team scored in the second half as Union easily grabbed the win.

Senior Bryanna Meehan (Roxbury, NY/Roxbury Central) made four saves in goal, while Rachel Berliner had five for Union.

The Garnet Chargers outshot the Red Dragons 19-8 and held a 7-2 corner kick advantage.

Oneonta looks to bounce back when it opens SUNYAC play at home against Oswego on Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.
