Women's Soccer Begins 2025 Campaign With Home Matches Against Hartwick and Brockport

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's soccer team kicks off the 2025 season with back-to-back home games starting August 29 against Hartwick at 4 p.m. and then Brockport on August 30 at 1 p.m.

Last Season

  • The Red Dragons finished the year 6-10-1 overall with a 5-4 mark in SUNYAC play to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
  • Oneonta was the sixth seed in the SUNYAC Tournament, and opened the first round with a 1-0 win at Oswego. The Red Dragons reached the semifinals before falling 2-1 to Cortland.
  • Four players were named All-SUNYAC, including senior Kaiden Ring (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) and junior Emma Parente (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East).

Captains

  • Ring and senior Tara Nicholson (Bayside, NY/Archbishop Molloy) will serve as team captains for the 2025 season.

Key Returners

  • Oneonta returns six of its goal scorers from last season, including Ring, who had three goals with two assists. Parente added three goals, while sophomore Sara Kealey (Seaford, NY/General Douglas MacArthur) was fourth on the team with two goals and tied for first with three assists.
  • Nicholson, junior Caroline Schimitsch (Little Neck, NY/The Mary Louis Academy), and junior Katie Doherty (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) each added a goal.
  • Senior Karsyn Kondracki (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) tied for fourth on the team with two assists.
  • On defense, junior Dominique DiOrio (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) appeared in all 17 games while making 16 starts.
  • Senior Bryanna Meehan (Roxbury, NY/Roxbury Central) was the Red Dragons' primary goalkeeper, starting in 16 games. Meehan recorded an .802 save percentage with a 1.53 goals against average. Meehan produced three shutouts and totaled 89 saves.

Newcomers

  • The Red Dragons feature 11 newcomers, comprising eight first-year players and three junior transfers. The freshmen consist of forwards Reilly Landisi (Beacon, NY/Beacon), Eleni Schattman (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson), Eva Croft (Sherrill, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill Central), and Olivia Nicholls (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman). For midfielders, there are Violet Mattoni (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla), Bella Mattoni (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla), and Lotte Aaten (Stanley, Hong Kong/Nord Anglia International School). Christina Munch (Greenlawn, NY/John Glenn) bolsters the Oneonta defense.
  • The three transfers include midfielders Malena Stevenson (Chaumont, NY/Lyme Central) and Brenna Mast (Croghan, NY/Beaver River), as well as defender Jacey Hinds (Blossvale, NY/Camden Senior).

Following the opening weekend, the Red Dragons host the annual Mayor's Cup from Sept. 6-7.
