ONEONTA, N.Y. - Oneonta baseball recent graduate Joey Dwyer (Shoreham, NY/Shoreham Wading River) picked up American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III Region 3 All-Defensive Team honors, announced by the organization Thursday morning. He becomes the first Red Dragon in program history to receive the recognition.
Dwyer started all 43 games this past season, recording a .990 fielding percentage in the outfield while committing just one error. He tallied 99 putouts with four assists.
Dwyer was also an ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 3 Third Team selection and an All-SUNYAC Second Team honoree.
Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
The ABCA started the Regional Defensive teams in 2023.
