CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Oneonta men's lacrosse team dropped a 19-9 decision to No. 15 Cortland in the SUNYAC Finals at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex, Saturday afternoon. Oneonta challenged Cortland in the first half, however the host team outscored the visiting Red Dragons in the second half 7-2 to hold on to the game. Oneonta finished the season 9-10 overall, while Cortland moved to 17-2 and received the conference's automatic qualifying berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Juniors
Jamie O'Neil (Bath, N.Y./Haverling),
Aidan Greene (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West), and freshman
Mark Restivo (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) were all named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team. O'Neil recorded two goals and two assists in the SUNYAC final and finished the tournament with 10 points off five goals and five assists. Greene found the back of the net, scooped seven ground balls and caused two turnovers against Cortland to end the tournament with a goal, nine ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Restivo saved 15 shots for a .441 save percentage in the championship and totaled 25 saves in the tournament for a .481 save percentage with four ground balls.

Vincent Tirino (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) for a man-up goal, Tirino's 10th goal of the year.
Following Tirino's score, Cortland scored seven unanswered goals to take a 9-4 lead at 6:58 in the second. Greene ended the run with a goal, assisted by senior
Matthew Mangels (St. James/Smithtown East), for his third of the season at 6:36. Oneonta totaled two more goals in the half while Cortland recorded three to take a 12-7 lead into halftime. Senior
Stephen Barikyan (Tappan/Tappan Zee) received a pass from O'Neil in the middle of the attack zone for his fifth goal of the season, then O'Neil found graduate student
Andrew Guinto (Syracuse/West Genesee) with two seconds remaining for Guinto's fourth goal of the year.
Sophomore
Thomas Hnis (Smithtown, N.Y./Kings Park) traded goals with Cortland to start the third quarter with his 59th score of the season at 12:23, then Cortland recorded five straight goals to go up 18-8 with 8:06 remaining. Sophomore
Finn Morris (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) scored his 11th goal of the season with 4:55 remaining for Oneonta's final goal of the year.
O'Neil led the team with four points, while he also picked up two ground balls, and was one of 10 Red Dragons to record a point. Macchiarella finished with a goal and an assist.
Barikyan and Guinto each scored a goal and co-led the game with seven ground balls. Barikyan was 14-for-26 on faceoffs, while sophomore
Nathan Nurse (Brooklyn, N.Y./Uncommon Collegiate Charter) went 4-for-5 on faceoffs and scooped up two ground balls.
Guinto, Greene, and Mangels all caused two turnovers. Mangels had three ground balls and Guinto collected two. Senior

Restivo finished with his 15 saves for a .441 save percentage, while Cortland's Travis Wagner had seven saves for a .438 save percentage.
Senior
Anthony Munro (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) was named the 2025 SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Elite 20 honoree. The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. Munro is a business administration major maintaining a 3.87 cumulative GPA.

Oneonta won 18 of 32 faceoffs while Cortland outshot them 53-37 overall, 34-16 on net, and had a 38-33 advantage in ground balls. Oneonta was 19-for-21 on clears attempts and 1-for-3 on extra-man opportunities, while Cortland was 24-for-24 on clears and 1-for-4 on the man-up.
Oneonta finished their program-historic 2025 season as the SUNYAC Tournament runner-up with a 9-10 record and the conference's third best record of 5-2. It was the first time since 2002 that the Oneonta Red Dragons competed for the SUNYAC Championship. The 2025 team finished the season with 247 goals and 164 assists for 411 points which is only the second time in program history for a team to record 400+ points. This team ranks second in all three categories, only behind the 2002 team. Defensively, Oneonta caused a program record 159 turnovers, breaking last season's record of 146. The team also set the program record for 320 faceoffs won, as the previous record was 288 set in 2002.
The Red Dragons had multiple individuals break single game and single season records. O'Neil became the first Oneonta Red Dragon to record 50+ goals and 50+ assists in a season. The junior was the first ever to score 100+ points in a season as he set the program record for points (102) and assists (52) this season. O'Neil is currently third in program history with 218 career points and 142 career goals. He is currently on pace to finish as the program leader in points per game (4.63) and goals per game (3.04).
Barikyan set multiple records in faceoffs and ground balls. He won a program best 266 faceoffs for a .602 winning percentage, the fifth best in program history. The senior faceoff specialist also set the record for faceoffs won in a single game with 25 against Canton. In that same game against the Roos, he set the record for ground balls collected in a single game with 17 and eventually finished the season with 149 total ground balls for a program record. Barikyan became the second Red Dragon to end his career with 500+ faceoffs won as he won 501 for a .567 winning percentage which ranks third all-time. He also finished third all-time with 268 ground balls in his career.
Graduate student
Matthew Krieg (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) finished his career fifth in program history with 87 assists and seventh all-time in points with 149.
Hnis finished the season with 60 goals, which is the second most scored in a single season. He ended his sophomore season sixth all-time in goals (102) and 12th in points (134).
Greene and Mangels now rank second and third, respectively, in caused turnovers in a single season. Greene recorded 27 and Mangels caused 26. Mangels finished his career tied for fourth with 41 caused turnovers, while Greene will enter his senior year with 38.
Restivo, as a freshman, finished 10th in program history with 224 saves in a single season.
