CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Oneonta women's basketball team could not overcome a first half deficit and dropped their SUNYAC game at Cortland, 70-38, Friday evening. Oneonta moved to 10-13 on the season, 7-9 in the SUNYAC, and Cortland improved to 19-3 overall and 14-1 conference play.

Senior Emma Schwarzbeck (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill Senior High School) assisted Zuntag on Oneonta's first bucket of the game, then she drained a three-pointer to tie the game at five at 7:16 in the first. Cortland scored seven unanswered points, then Zuntag knocked down a jumper as Oneonta trailed 12-7 at the end of the quarter. Cortland started the second with an 18-1 run to go up 30-8 with 1:34 left in the half. Brown made a jump shot before Jackie Funk split a pair at the line to give Cortland a 31-10 lead entering halftime.

Zuntag opened the third with a pair of layups, however Cortland answered with a 7-0 run for a 38-14 advantage at 5:26. Oneonta ended the third with a 14-7 stretch to make it a 45-28 game. Brown led with five points during the run, Zuntag added four points, totaling eight in the quarter, Schwarzbeck drilled her second triple of the game, and senior Molly Coyne (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) knocked down a jumper in the paint. Coyne made a layup to pull Oneonta within 15 with 9:44 to play, but Cortland put the game out of reach with an 18-4 run to go up 63-34 with 2:13 remaining.

Schwarzbeck shot 2-for-4 from deep and finished with seven points and four boards. Cortland was led by Joleen Lusk with 13 points and six rebounds, and Sam Dembinsky added 10 points.
