TROY, N.Y. - The Oneonta men's swimming & diving team took on RPI on Saturday afternoon, falling 173-96 to the Engineers.
Oneonta opened the meet by placing third in the 400-yard medley relay, with seniors Delroy Tyrrell, Brendan Heaney, Calvin Hitzschke, and junior Nick Rhodes swam a 3:42.38.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, junior Gavin Weseman took third at 11:53.46. Fifth-year Aramini Maddox placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:55.81, while junior Cosmo Martinelli took sixth at 1:58.45.
Freshman Caleb Doney swam a 1:08.08 to finish fourth in the 100-yard backstroke. Rhodes grabbed second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:04.19, while Heaney earned fifth at 1:07.68. Hitzschke took second in the 50-yard freestyle, and sophomore Dylan Harrison finished fourth with a 24.94.
Tyrrell swam a 48.41 to finish second in the 100-yard freestyle, while Hitzschke took third at 51.69. In the 200-yard breaststroke, sophomore Dudley Bastion was second at 2:39.55.
Weseman went on to place second in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:42.49, and junior Matt Cleveland took fourth at 6:14.01.
Tyrrell won the 100-yard butterfly at 54.25. Junior Cosmo Martinelli was third with a 56.38, and junior Colin Ringwood was fourth at 1:00.39.
Heaney finished second overall in the 400-yard IM at 4:53.83, while sophomore Russell Cheng grabbed third at 5:10.15.
The swim events closed with the 400-yard freestyle relay, where Hitzschke, Martinelli, Rhodes, and Tyrrell took second at 3:22.66.
Oneonta took the top two spots in the one-meter dive, with sophomore Ben Heyman winning with 168.20 points. Freshman Mark Vargas placed second with 143.85 points. Heyman then won the three-meter dive with 203.80 points.
Oneonta next competes against Hartwick on Saturday, November 8 at 1 p.m.
