MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - Six different Red Dragons found the back of the net as the Oneonta women's soccer team defeated Morrisville 7-1 in SUNYAC play on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons move to 4-7-4 overall and 2-3-3 in the SUNYAC, while Morrisville falls to 3-11-1 and 1-8-0 in the conference.
Junior Jacey Hinds (Blossvale, NY/Camden Senior) subbed in at the 18th minute and followed with a goal six minutes later. Junior Gianna Hanner (Ridge, NY/Longwood) crossed the ball on a corner kick that Hinds headed into the back of the net. Oneonta scored again at 35:21 when freshman Bella Mattoni (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla) scored off a pass from junior Emma Parente (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East).
Morrisville cut the lead to 2-1 in the second half following a goal from Klaire Keppel. The Red Dragons answered less than a minute later when senior Karsyn Kondracki (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) crossed a ball to Parente to make the lead 3-1. Freshman Violet Mattoni (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla) struck the ball from the top of the box at 75:03 to push the lead to 4-1.
After a Mustang's foul in the 83rd minute, senior Mikayla Gustavson (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Lakeland) scored her first career goal on a penalty kick. Junior Brenna Mast (Croghan, NY/Beaver River) scored on a free kick attempt at 85:34, and then B. Mattoni recorded a brace in the 87th minute after a defensive turnover.
Oneonta concludes the regular season on Tuesday, October 28, at 1 p.m on Red Dragon Field.
