ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's swimming & diving team competed against Oswego in Saturday's home opener, falling to the Lakers 163-58.
The Red Dragons opened with a third-place performance in the 200-yard medley relay with junior Raina Willie (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville Senior), and freshmen Madeleine Cantwell (Buffalo, NY/Amherst Central), Mary Bush (Binghamton, NY), and Krista Broussard (Chesterfield, VA/Thomas Dale) swimming a 2:13.30.
Junior Ashley Brousseau (Peru, NY/Peru Central) took fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 13:29.06, and Cantwell was fifth at 13:31.16. In the 200-yard freestyle, junior Alexandria Bard (Duanesburg, NY/Duanesburg) touched fourth at 2:16.08, while Broussard was fifth at 2:32.76.
Senior Alli LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.37. Junior Alaska Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) swam a 27.64 for third place.
LaBarbera went on to take second in the 100-yard freestyle at 57.72. Bard took third in the 100-yard backstroke with a 1:10.45, while senior Alyssa Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) was fourth in the 500-yard freestyle at 6:33.95.
Freshman Sydney Richards (Rochester, NY) swam a 1:19.14 to take third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Oneonta wrapped up the meet with the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Lilliock, Bard, Richards, and LaBarbera placing second at 1:49.50.
Senior Macayla Hodkinson (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) won the one-meter dive with 211.85 points.
Oneonta next travels to face RPI on Saturday, October 25, at 1 p.m.
