Amanda Zuntag (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) led the game with 19 points and 14 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Sophomore
Carlie Young (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville Central) finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double as the Red Dragons improved to 8-10 on the season, 5-6 in the SUNYAC, and the Roos dropped to 9-8 overall, 5-6 in conference play.
Young drained a triple from the top of the arc to start the game, then Zuntag recorded the team's next six points for an early 9-4 lead at 6:53. Canton pulled within one, however freshman
Nai Torres (Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam Valley) drove into the paint for a tough layup to end the quarter ahead 11-8. The Roos tied the game with 4:03 to play in the half then Natalie Bartle hit a three-pointer to take a 21-19 lead. Junior
Emma Schwarzbeck (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill Senior High School) drove past multiple defenders to tie the game with a minute left in the half, but Marijke Kroon made a jumper to give Canton a 25-23 edge at the break.
The Red Dragons took a commanding 16-point lead at the end of the third quarter with a 23-5 run. Young led the team during the stretch with seven points, while Zuntag scored six in the quarter. Schwarzbeck and junior

Nadia Brown (Troy, NY/Troy) converted a pair at the line to put Oneonta up 46-30.

Molly Coyne (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) scored in the paint off an assist from Desrat, then she nailed a deep midrange jumper to keep the Red Dragons ahead 53-41 with 4:22 to play. Canton brought the deficit down to single digits with 1:36 left, but it was too late as Oneonta held them off for the remainder of the game.
Coyne finished with seven points and five rebounds, Brown had six points and five assists, and Desrats totaled seven rebounds with four assists. Canton had Kat McRobbie lead their team with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Bartle finished with 10 points and five steals.
Oneonta shot 30.3 percent from the floor, held a 47-36 rebounding margin, and had an 11-4 advantage in points off turnovers while Canton shot 31.3 percent.
The Red Dragons are on the road on Friday, January 31, for a SUNYAC game against Fredonia at 5:30 pm.
