ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's soccer team fell in a 3-0 decision to Union on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons fall to 0-3-1 with the loss, while the Garnet Chargers move to 3-1-1.
Union's Vanessa Jorgensen took a shot at 10:59 that junior goalie Bryanna Meehan (Roxbury, NY/Roxbury Central) turned aside, and Oneonta countered with sophomore Keira Dashnow (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) shooting at the Union goal. Rachel Berliner saved the shot and followed with another save after a shot from freshman Sara Kealey (Seaford, NY/General Douglas MacArthur). Kealey took another on-goal attempt at 18:16, but the Union goalkeeper again saved it.
The Garnet Chargers got on the board in the 34th minute following a corner kick. Anabella Thomas passed to Taylor Bovardi to make it 1-0 at halftime.
Union scored again five minutes into the second half when Jorgensen found Sam Friedman for the open goal. The Garnet Chargers continued with their third goal four minutes later when Addie Zimmerman pushed the lead to 3-0 at 54:25.
Oneonta managed one more shot on goal when junior Karsyn Kondracki (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) fired into the bottom center, but Berline picked up the save.
Union outshot Oneonta 11-9, while the Red Dragons held a 3-2 corner kick advantage.
Oneonta next travels to face Vassar on Wed. Sept. 18 at 4 p.m.
