NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -Â The Oneonta women's swimming & diving team took on New Paltz for the final dual meet of the regular season, falling 111-90 to the Hawks on Saturday afternoon. In total, the Red Dragons won five events.Â
Oneonta opened the meet by winning the 400-medley relay. Seniors Claire Armstrong (Woodbury, NY/Monroe Woodbury) and Emma Stephenson (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy), junior Anna McCall (Ligonier, PA/Ligonier Valley), and freshman Alexandria Bard (Schenectady, NY/Duanesburg) swam a 4:26.24.
Bard followed up by placing second in the 200-freeestyle at 2:12.98, and sophomore Alyssa Thompson (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) took fourth at 2:20.08. Sophomore Allison LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) took first in the 50-freestyle (27.01), while junior Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) grabbed third (27.66).
Senior Sophia Olson (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) swam a 5:11.30 to win the 400-IM, and McCall placed second in the 200-butterfly at 2:30.67.
LaBarbera posted a 59.12 to finish second in the 100-freestyle.Â
In the 200-backstroke, Bard placed second (2:28.19), sophomore Lena Nakken (Islip, NY/Islip) took third (2:29.45), and freshman Alaska Lilliock (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) was fourth (2:38.88).Â
Olson placed second in the 500-freestyle (5:49.62), while Thompson placed third (6:14.46).Â
Stephenson won the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:48.69.
The Red Dragons concluded the meet by winning the 800-freestyle relay. Stephenson, Nakken, Armstrong, and Olson posted a time of 8:39.70.Â
Oneonta will next compete at the SUNYAC Championships on Wednesday. Feb. 21.Â
