ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta men's tennis team dropped their spring season opener at RIT, 8-1, Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons moved to 4-2 overall and the Tigers improved to 2-0.
Freshman
Chris Chippari (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C Ketcham) won the lone point in the match for Oneotna. He defeated Verosh Jayanetti on the No. 3 singles court in a third set tiebreaker. Chippari won the first set 6-4, came up short in the second set, 5-7, then battled for the 11-9 third set victory.
Senior
August LePique (New York, NY/Columbia) and sophomore
William Schmid (Yonkers/Salesian HS) fought hard on the No. 1 doubles court but fell to Grahith Movva and Alec Turcotte, 8-5. Junior
Noah Khair (New Delhi, INDIA/National Institute of Open Schooling) had a close match on the No. 5 singles court, however fell in straight sets to Max Chang, 7-5, 6-3.
The Red Dragons are back in action Saturday for a road match against St. Lawrence at 12 pm.
