ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Oneonta women's basketball team did not trail for a second en route to a 58-37 SUNYAC win over Buffalo State, Friday evening. Sophomore 
Emma Schwarzbeck (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill Senior High School) led the game with 16 points, shooting 4-for-8 from three-point range, and added six rebounds and five assists. Sophomore 
Carlie Young (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville Central) and senior 
Amanda Zuntag (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy) both recorded 14 points as the Red Dragons improved to 4-3 this season, 2-0 in SUNYAC play, and the Bengals dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Oneonta moved the ball around early and had four different scorers during an 11-0 run to start the game, while they held Buffalo State scoreless for the first five minutes. The Bengals started to find the bottom of the net, but a jump shot from junior 
Lidia Boucher (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central High School) and a pair of buckets from Young gave the Red Dragons a 17-7 lead by the end of the first.
Oneonta maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second quarter as both teams traded baskets heading into halftime. Freshman 
Nai Torres (Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam Valley) recorded her first career points with a three-pointer to start the quarter, while Schwarzbeck totaled seven points in the second to give the Red Dragons a 33-21 advantage at the break.
After Buffalo State scored the opening basket of the second half, Oneonta went on a 13-2 run to go up 46-25 at 3:50. Schwarzbeck knocked down a pair of three-pointers during the stretch and Zuntag scored six in the paint.
The Bengals had a couple layups at the end of the third quarter to trim their deficit to 46-29 heading into the fourth, but they could not cut any further into the Red Dragons' lead. Zuntag recorded six points in the final quarter, Young drained a jumper, and Torres scored the team's final four points with a jump shot near the block and a pair of free throws.
Torres finished with seven points and a steal off the bench. Along with their 14 points, Zuntag brought in six rebounds and had three steals, and Young recorded four boards and three assists.
Oneonta shot 40.0 percent from the floor, held a 34-29 rebounding advantage and scored 26 points off turnovers, while Buffalo State shot 31.9 percent from the floor and converted seven points off turnovers.
The Red Dragons' next game is Saturday, December 7, against Fredonia in a conference matchup at 2 pm in Dewar Arena.
