Oneonta Faces Hartwick and Brockport

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's swimming & diving team continued dual meet action, facing Hartwick and Brockport on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Alexis Gibson (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) highlighted the day with three first-place performances. The Red Dragons fell 196.5-98.5 to the Hawks and 190-104 to the Golden Eagles.

Oneonta opened first by taking fifth in the 200-yard medley relay. Seniors Cadence Dudley (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac), Anna McCall (Ligonier, PA/Ligonier Valley), and sophomore Alexandria Bard (Schenectady, NY/Duanesburg) swam at 2:04.47.

Senior Lena Nakken (Islip, NY/Islip) touched second overall in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 11:51.64. In the 200-yard freestyle, junior Allison LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) placed fourth at 2:08.29.  Gibson won the 100-yard backstroke at 1:02.57, while Bard took fifth at 1:09.76.

LaBarbera continued with a second-place performance in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.40. She went on to grab third in the 100-yard freestyle with a 57.78.  

Bard swam a 2:25.75 in the 200-yard backstroke to place fourth overall. Nakken touched second in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:44.66.

Gibson secured her second win of the day in the 100-yard butterfly after swimming a 1:02.38. She went on to win the 200-yard IM at 2:22.51.

Oneonta wrapped up the swimming events with a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Bard, Gibson, LaBarbera, and Nakken touched at 3:54.30.

In the one-meter dive, junior Macayla Hodkinson (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) tied for third with 188.10 points.

Oneonta competes in their first home meet against Delhi next on Wed. Nov. 13 at 4 p.m.
