BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The No. 19 SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team dropped their SUNYAC match on the road against Buffalo St., 2-0, Wednesday afternoon. The Bengals managed to score a goal in each half and improved to 12-0-1 overall and 6-0-0 in conference play, while the Red Dragons moved to 8-3-3 on the season, 4-2-0 in the SUNYAC.
"We played well enough in the first half but went into the half down one after giving up a really soft goal," said head coach
Iain Byrne. "After the break, we huffed and puffed, but the goals have dried up, and it was another disappointing result."
Sam Gregson scored the first goal for Buffalo St. in the 31st minute off a pass from Salvador Gomes. Freshman
Tommy Kliampas (Huntington Station, N.Y./Walt Whitman) and junior
Sam Rogers (Broadalbin, N.Y./Broadalbin-Perth) registered a couple shots on goal in the 34th minute and 39th minute, respectively, but Shae Wirt made the saves to bring the 1-0 lead into halftime. Joseph Desmonie recorded the Bengals second goal in the 59th minute for the 2-0 final. Junior
Dillon Kelly (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Beacon) had three shots on goal in the final 30 minutes while a few other Red Dragons had a chance to get on board in the second half however Wirt made the stops.

AJ Lucas (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) finished with five saves in net for the Red Dragons and Wirt ended with eight for the Bengals. Oneonta had a slight edge in shots on target, 8-7, and Buffalo St held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Red Dragons return to action for their Senior Day on Saturday, October 19, when they host Canton at 2 pm.
