ONEONTA, N.Y. -- In their final regular season home game, the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team were put in a hole early and could not dig themselves out, dropping to Geneseo 46-37, Saturday afternoon. Senior
Olivia Dobrovosky (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) had the team-high 11 points with three rebounds as the Red Dragons moved to 16-7 on the season and 11-5 in the SUNYAC while the Knights improved to 17-6 overall and 12-4 in conference.
Geneseo went 6-for-9 from the field in the first quarter and built a 19-5 lead. After the Knights scored the first nine points, Dobrovosky went one-for-two at the line. Later on, sophomore
Amanda Zuntag (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy) scored the next four points for Oneonta with a trip to the line and a jumper at the end of the quarter, assisted by Dobrovosky. Kiley Snow and Hannah Stockman combined for 11 of Geneseo's points in the first.
Following a made free throw from senior
Elizabeth Thompson (Morris/Morris), Geneseo's Lauren Romito made a couple of layups, extending the Knights lead to 19 with 7:02 in the half. Oneonta closed out the second with an 8-1 run. Zuntag recorded four points, Dobrovosky knocked down a jumper and junior
Molly Stephens (LaGrange/Arlington) drove in for a layup during the stretch, but the Red Dragons still trailed, 14-26.
Oneonta did not cut the deficit to single digits until a three-pointer from freshman
Emma Schwarzbeck (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill Senior High School) at 1:58 left in the third. Following a sequence of jump shots from Romito and graduate student
Clara Culeton (Oswego/Oswego), Kerry Dennin made a layup to put the Knights back up 11. Sophomore
Nadia Brown (Troy/Troy) closed out the period with a triple, pulling the Red Dragons within eight.
Stephens drilled one from beyond the arc to make it a six-point gap, 33-39, with 7:10 to play, however that was the closest Oneonta would get. Dobrovosky tacked on the last four points for the Red Dragons as the Knights scored five of their last seven points from the free throw line for the eventual 46-37 final.
Zuntag finished with 10 points and three steals while graduate senior
Megan Palmatier (Bainbridge/Bainbridge-Guilford) led the team with six rebounds and totaled a pair of steals.
Romito ended with 18 points, 10 boards, and three blocks. Stockman and Kerry Dennin each had seven points.

Before the game the Red Dragons held Senior Day and recognized the academic and athletic careers of Dobrovosky,
