New Paltz (3-10, 1-5 SUNYAC) carried an 8-7 lead into the fourth period and ended up outscoring Oneonta (3-10, 2-4 SUNYAC) for the final margin of victory. With the score knotted at 9-9 with just under 13 minutes remaining, the Hawks scored four unanswered goals that proved to be the difference. A goal by senior

The two squads went back-and-forth with the lead in the opening period with New Paltz grabbing a slim 4-3 lead at the end of the period. Three different players scored for Oneonta.

The two squads combined for three goals in the second period with two going to the Red Dragons, knotting the score at seven apiece heading into halftime. Junior
Kieran Rowley (Long Beach/Long Beach) scored the tying goal after assisting on the other goal in the period by
Matthew Krieg (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue).

The same pattern played out in the third period with New Paltz regaining its one goal advantage heading into the final period of play.

Rowley and Krieg paced the Oneonta attack with three goals and one assist each.

Oneonta outshot New Paltz 48-34 but won only 11 of 27 face-offs.

What's Next
The men's lacrosse team will travel to Potsdam on Saturday for the final game of the regular season. Oneonta is still in the hunt for the final SUNYAC tournament spot. A win versus Potsdam and a loss by Oswego Friday night at Brockport will give the Red Dragons the No. 4 seed.
