The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team was defeated at home today by Brockport 9-3 in SUNYAC action. The loss for the Red Dragons drops them to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference while the Golden Eagles left town 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

The Inside Story
Oneonta scored the game's first goal less than five minutes into the opening quarter. Freshman
Vincent Herbstman (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) notched his first collegiate goal off an assist from junior
David Guest (Niskayuna/Niskayuna). Brockport would score a pair of goals just over one minute apart to grab a 2-1 lead that they would carry into the second quarter.

Over the next two-plus quarters, the Golden Eagles tacked on seven unanswered goals to take a commanding 9-1 lead with under five minutes left in the game. Senior

Vincent Tirino (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) tallied a pair of man-up goals for Oneonta late for the final.

Just the Stats
The statistics were relatively even despite the margin of victory for Brockport. Shots went to the visitors 36-33, but had a decided advantage in faceoffs, 14-2, and ground balls, 25-12.

Oneonta will have the week to prepare for its next opponent Plattsburgh next Saturday on the road beginning at 1pm.
