The Inside Story
Senior
Dean Cannon (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) scored the game's first goal off an assist from freshman
Steve Barikyan (Tappan/Tappan Zee). The goal was a man-up tally and was Cannon's sixth of the season. A pair of goals in the final 1:07 of the opening quarter by the hosts gave them a 2-1 advantage heading to the second quarter.
Â
Stevens held a 3-1 lead after a score at the 12:42 mark. Oneonta then scored back-to-back goals two minutes apart to tie the game at 3-3. Cannon scored his second with an assist from junior
Jack Dinnegan (Blauvelt/Tappan Zee) while junior
Connor Gallagher (Montrose/Hendrick Hudson) got the equalizer with an assist from classmate
Kieran Rowley (Long Beach/Long Beach).
Â
After Stevens went ahead 4-3, it was Cannon again scoring to knot the game at four apiece with just under five minutes to go in the second quarter. The Ducks grabbed a 5-4 lead on a late goal heading into the break.
Â
The hosts essentially put the game out of reach in the third quarter scoring nine times to only one for the Red Dragons. The Ducks scored eight unanswered in the quarter before sophomore
Luke Maslin (Owego/Owego Free Academy) scored his fourth of the season off an assist by Dinnegan.
Â
Stevens tacked on four more goals in the final quarter for the final margin of victory.
