Three runs in the ninth inning lifted Mount Saint Mary College over the SUNY Oneonta baseball team in a 4-1 game Friday afternoon. The Red Dragons fall to 3-8 in the season, while the Knights improve to 4-5.
The Inside Story
Oneonta struck first in the first inning. Runners were on second and third, with two outs, when senior
Matthew McAllister (Vestal/Vestal) singled to right center to score one.
The Knights knotted the game in the fifth off Coleman Barnes' single.
In the top of the ninth Mount Saint Mary rallied for three runs, securing the victory. Two of the runs came in off another Barnes' single, and the third was scored off Liam Merlin's single.

McAllister went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and junior
Sean Liquori (Thiells/North Rockland) went 2-for-3 with two walks.
Freshman
Kyle Roper (Tappan/Tappan Zee) started on the mound and went 6.1 innings, allowed six hits, one unearned run, and struck out six. Sophomore
Matthew Russo (Poughquag/Arlington) pitched 1.2 relief innings, did not allow a hit, and struck out two. Sophomore
Kyle Rosenberger (Montgomery/Valley Central) received the loss after pitching 0.2 innings, allowing three runs off four hits.
