The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team held off a late surge by SUNY Potsdam, as they secured a 62-54 win tonight in SUNYAC action. The win for the Red Dragons brings them back to the .500 mark overall at 12-12 while moving to 9-8 in conference. The loss for the Bears drops them to 12-11 overall and 7-10 in the conference.

The Inside Story

Nadia Brown (Troy/Troy) gave Oneonta its largest lead of the game at the 7:48 mark of the fourth quarter. The Bears put together one final push and got as close as seven points with just over one minute left in the contest, but could get no closer, as the Red Dragons held on to secure the victory.

Potsdam jumped out to an early 6-0 lead before Oneonta settled in putting together a 9-2 run over a span of 3:40 to take its first lead of the contest at 9-8. The Bears regained the lead 12-11 at the end of the quarter.

Oneonta quickly grabbed the lead back in the second quarter on a
Molly Stephens (LaGrange/Arlington) three-pointer. The Red Dragons continued to build on its lead pushing it to as many as 10 points with 2:34 remaining in the quarter. Oneonta topped out at 20 points and took a 31-23 lead into the break.

Oneonta increased its lead to 13 points entering the final quarter. After Potsdam cut its deficit to three points in the opening 1:10 of the quarter, the Red Dragons scored six unanswered points capped by a
Lauren Obermayer (East Greenbush/Columbia) jumper. Oneonta closed the quarter with an 11-4 burst that included five different scorers for the hosts including a three-pointer by
Jenna Harclerode (Sayville/Sayville).

Just the Stats
Two players scored 10 points tonight to lead Oneonta in the game. The freshmen duo of
Nadia Brown (Troy/Troy) and
Amanda Zuntag (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy) took turns scoring all of their points in different halves. Zuntag led the way in the opening half with her 10 points while Brown scored all of hers in the final two quarters.

Meg Nardelli's (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham) eight points.
