A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team fell at home tonight to rival Cortland 58-39 in SUNYAC women's action.  The loss for Oneonta dropped them back to the .500 mark at 11-11 overall and 8-7 in conference play.  The win for Cortland pushed its overall record to 18-2 while remaining a perfect 14-0 in the conference.
 
The Inside Story
The big quarter for Cortland was the third when they outscored Oneonta 26-11 opening up a 48-26 lead heading to the fourth quarter.  Maggie Malone and Casey Travers paced Cortland's attack with six points each.
 
Oneonta finished the game scoring 13 points and holding the visitors to 10 points.  
Sophia Wakin (Delhi/Delaware Academy) led the hosts with five points in the quarter.  Wakin finished the game with seven points in eight minutes off the bench tonight.
 
The first quarter ended with Cortland holding a slight 12-11 lead.  There were two ties and three lead changes in the quarter the final lead change coming on a three pointer Corinne Miedreich give the visitors a 9-8 lead.  Another trey by Shannon McGuire extended Cortland's lead before a three-pointer by 
Molly Stephens (LaGrange/Arlington) brought Oneonta back to within one point.
 
The two teams couldn't find many baskets through most of the second quarter before six unanswered by Cortland gave them a 22-15 lead heading into halftime.
 
Just the Stats
Cortland won the battle on the boards tonight 46-41.  Oneonta's reserves outscored Cortland's 21-17 led by junior 
Meg Nardelli (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham) who scored a team high 10 points.
 
What's Next
Oneonta will be home again tomorrow when they face Oswego beginning at 2pm.
