Oneonta Splits at RPI

TROY, N.Y. - After competing in a meet the previous day, the Oneonta women's swimming and diving team picked up a 133-87 win over Saint Rose but fell 67-171 to RPI in Sunday afternoon's meet. 

The 400-yard medley relay of senior Kayla Keddy (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), junior Emma Stephenson (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy), sophomore Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac), and first-year Emily Kendrick (Middletown, NY/Goshen Central) got the Red Dragons rolling with a fourth-place finish while finishing at 4:30.11. Junior Claire Armstrong (Woodbury, NY/Monroe Woodbury) followed with a personal best of 12:18.45 to take fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle. In the 200-yard freestyle, Kendrick grabbed a point after swimming a 2:11.44 for fifth overall. 

First-year Allison LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) touched at 27.61 in the 50-yard freestyle for fifth, and Stinson was sixth with a 27.66. Junior Sophia Olson (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) was the top Red Dragon in the 400-yard IM, placing fourth at a time of 5:11.95. 

Keddy recorded Oneonta's highest finish after swimming a personal record of 58.19 in the 100-yard freestyle for third place. Kendrick also grabbed a personal best of 59.90 to take fourth overall. Junior Emma Trumino (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) and first-year Jessica Shaw (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) went third and fourth in the 200-yard backstroke. Trumino swam a 2:25.62, while Shaw placed at 2:28.06. Olson finished with a season-best of 5:37.75 in the 500-yard freestyle to earn third place. In the final 400-yard freestyle relay, Oneonta placed fourth with a time of 4:00.63. 

First-year Macayla Hodkinson (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) carried over a strong performance from yesterday by placing second in the one-meter dive with 229.65 points. She then took third in the three-meter after scoring 198.45. 

Oneonta returns next weekend for a dual meet against Hartwick on Sat. Nov. 12 at 1 p.m.
