ONEONTA, N.Y. - A late second-half goal from visiting Brockport gave the Golden Eagles a 2-1 win over the Oneonta women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon. Brockport's Karlie Mann netted the game-winning goal in the 80th minute following a miscue by the Red Dragons' defense and moves to 4-5-3 overall and 3-2-1 in the SUNYAC. Oneonta slips to 2-7-1 and 0-4-1 in the conference.

Brockport scored the opening goal six minutes into the first half. After a Golden Eagles' throw-in, Sophia DeAngelo passed to Kiley Longin at the top left of the Oneonta zone. Longin fired the deep shot into the top right corner of the goal to make it 1-0.

Neither side could find any rhythm afterward, but the one Red Dragons' attempt proved to be the equalizer. Sophomore Shannon Lowney (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) took a corner from the left side. After a scramble in front of the net, sophomore Kayla Schwizer (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) redirected a shot from junior Leighann Perciballi (Northport, NY/Kings Park) to make it 1-1 at 40:07.

Brockport took two shots on goal in the 58th and 76th minutes that goalkeeper Claire Lepper (Poland, NY/Poland) turned aside. Senior Joie Tortorice (Melville, NY/Walt Whitman) picked up senior Hannah Kelly (Monroe, NY/Monroe Woodbury) on a breakaway in the 72nd minute, but the Golden Eagles' defense broke up the shot attempt at the last second. Lepper grabbed a shot from Emily Maczka, but Brockport intercepted the ball on the transition. The Golden Eagles cross the ball in front of the net, and with Lepper down, Karlie Mann shot the ball off an Oneonta defender to take the lead at 80:51.

A yellow card on Brockport at 89:16 gave Oneonta one final chance. Lowney lined up the penalty shot from 15-yards out but hit the Golden Eagles' wall.

Oneonta honored its eight seniors before the game in Lepper, Tortorice, Kelly, Emma Kirkpatrick (Wading River, NY/Shoreham Wading River), Robin Confer (Chenango Forks, NY/Chenango Forks), Abbey Wood (Dover Plains, NY/Dover Plains), Haley Marshall (Staten Island, NY/Susan E. Wagner), and Natalie Sancilio (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West).

The Red Dragons play in their final home game on Wed. Oct. 12 against Plattsburgh at 4 p.m.
