Oneonta Closes Season with Draw Against Hartwick

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Neither side could score in 90-minutes of play as the Oneonta women's soccer team finishes the season with a 0-0 draw at Hartwick on Tuesday evening. The game was evenly matched, and defenses controlled the midfield. Oneonta closes the season at 4-9-2, while Hartwick moves to 4-6-5.

Neither side found many open looks in the first half, but the Red Dragons managed a 4-1 shot advantage. The first shot was at 8:30 when sophomore Shannon Lowney (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) sent the ball wide. Hartwick's Hannah Bochniak answered with an attempt in the 19th minute, but goalkeeper Claire Lepper (Poland, NY/Poland) collected the ball. Near the end of the half, Leighann Perciballi (Northport, NY/Kings Park) fired on target as the Hawks' goalie made the stop. Senior Joie Tortorice (Melville, NY/Walt Whitman) made one final attempt before the break, but it sailed high.

The action picked up in the second half with shots tied 7-7. Hartwick had a pair of late breakaways that were one-on-one with Lepper. At 71:05, Lepper met Gianna Cacciola at the top of the box to make the save. Then at 74:40, Lepper stopped another shot from Sydney Franza. Senior Emma Kirkpatrick (Wading River, NY/Shoreham Wading River) and sophomore Kayla Schwizer (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) recorded Oneonta's final two attempts but could not find the back of the net.

Oneonta held a slight 11-8 shot advantage and led corners 4-3. Lepper finished with four saves.
