OSWEGO, N.Y. -Â The Oneonta women's swimming and diving team posted seven first-place finishes on its way to a 126-84 victory over Oswego on Saturday afternoon. Junior Sophia Olson (Scotia, NY/Scotia Glenville) and first-year Macayla Hodkinson (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) led the Red Dragons with two first places each.
Oneonta opened with the 200-medley relay and took second at 2:01.49. Then in the 200-freestyle, Olson picked up her first victory by swimming a 2:08.12. Junior Emma Trumino (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) was third at 2:17.25, while first-year Emma Grefski (Commack, NY/Saint Anthony's) placed fourth at 2:20.56. Oswego took the top two spots in the 50-freestyle. Sophomore Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) finished third with 27.47, while senior Kayla Keddy (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) finished fourth with 27.59.Â
The Red Dragons swept the 200-IM behind a first-place performance from junior Claire Armstrong (Woodbury, NY/Monroe Woodbury). She swam a 2:29.58, and junior Emma Stephenson (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) finished second with a 2:30.84. Sophomore Lena Nakken (Islip, NY/Islip) swam a 2:32.19 for third overall. Stinson won the 100-fly after swimming a 1:08.12. First-year Allison LaBarbera (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) took third at 1:11.03, while junior Anna Guzzo (Niskayuna, NY/Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) was fourth with a 1:12.21.Â
Trumino took the top spot in the 100-backstroke with a 1:07.63, while Keddy was right behind at 1:07.77. Olson won her second event in the 500-freestyle, finishing at 5:45.60. In the 100-breaststroke, sophomore Cadence Dudley (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) earned second at 1:18.57, and Stephenson was third with a 1:18.80. Sophomore Anna McCall (Ligonier, PA/Ligonier Valley) was fourth with a time of 1:30.22.Â
Oneonta took first in the diving events, with Hodkinson winning both. In the 3-meter, Hodkinson scored 141.20 points, and sophomore Paige Splendido (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) was second with 132.50. Hodkinson went on to win the 1-meter with 174.55 points. Splendido took third at 122.90.Â
After a slight break in competition, Oneonta returns on Sat. Nov. 5 to host Brockport at 1 p.m.
