A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball drilled its first three shots, all from behind the arc, jumping out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back enroute to a lopsided 92-42 victory against Buffalo State at home tonight. The win for the Red Dragons raised its overall record to 8-6 and 4-3 in the SUNYAC while the Bengals leave town 1-12 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
"I am pleased with our effort tonight," said Head Coach
Cameron Conover. "Every single player was locked in, and I thought we had a really good effort on the defensive end. There were a lot of good plays, but when
Caleb Brown (Brooklyn, NY/Uncommon Charter) dove on the floor for a loose ball, which led to a dunk for a teammate, with one minute to go, that said a lot. That's big time, and these guys want to be good, and they continue to work hard every day and I enjoy coaching them."
The Inside Story
Junior
Dylan Trombley (Moriah, NY/Moriah) led six Oneonta players in double figures with 19 points. Trombley made three of his first four shots from deep in helping to get the Red Dragons jump started in the opening five minutes. Trombley finished the game with five, three-pointers to go with seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Oneonta put the game out of reach in the final 7:22 of the first half with a 23-7 burst taking a commanding 49-24 lead into halftime.
The Red Dragons continued to pull further away from the Bengals in the second half taking the decisive 50-point win.
Joining Trombley in double digits tonight included freshman
Caleb Brown (Brooklyn, NY/Uncommon Charter) with 13 points, junior
Michael Ortale Jr. (Bethlehem, NY/Bethlehem Central), sophomores
