The SUNY Oneonta volleyball team defeated Plattsburgh 3-1 in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon at Chase Gymnasium. The win lifts the Red Dragons record to 3-9 overall with a 2-1 mark in league play. Plattsburgh is now 5-7 overall with a 1-2 record in conference action.
The Inside Story
After dropping the first set 25-22, Oneonta evened the match with 25-20 win in the second set. With Plattsburgh leading 20-15 late in the set, Oneonta went on a thrilling 10-0 run with
Annalisa Alicea (Poughkeepsie/Arlington)Â at the service. Alicia delivered three service aces on the run while
Ashanti Davis (Cortlandt Manor/Hendrick Hudson) and
Isabella Fabrizio (Highland Mills/Cornwall) had two kills apiece.
Oneonta took the lead with a 25-22 victory in the third set. The Red Dragons led the entire match, taking as much as a seven-point lead. Plattsburgh would rally to cut the deficit within one when they went on 7-2 run. Leading by a slim 18-17 lead, Oneonta gave themselves some breathing room with a 5-0 run with
Kayla Rende (Wantagh/Wantagh) at the service. After the two teams exchanged points, Plattsburgh was able to cut the score to 24-22 before
Ashanti Davis (Cortlandt Manor/Hendrick Hudson) end the set with a kill.
The Red Dragons captured the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth set. With Oneonta trailing 5-4, the hosts used a 7-0 run to go in front for good.
Caitlin Christie (Bay Shore/Bay Shore) closed it out with her match-best 12
th kill.

Carsyn Rachuta (Holbrook/Sachem North) had a match-best 28 digs.
