The visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State Harrisburg made the most of its limited opportunities today in defeating SUNY Oneonta 2-0 in women's soccer action at Red Dragon Field. The win for Penn State raised its record to 2-1-1 overall while the Red Dragons fell to 0-4.
The Inside Story
The Nittany Lions managed only four shots in the match but made two of them count in the second half enroute to the win.
After a scoreless opening half of play, it was Eden Haldeman that gave Penn State a 1-0 lead in the 48
th minute. Haldeman was in the right place to collect a deflected ball at the top of the box and didn't waste any time in taking a shot on the volley up high. The Oneonta keeper got her hand on it but couldn't deflect it over the goal and the ball landed in the net.
Fifteen minutes later, Rhyan Socash raced by a couple of defenders and into the box where she beat the keeper inside the left post.
Just the Stats
Oneonta outshot Penn State 18-4 and had a couple of scoring chances but couldn't get one by Nittany Lions keeper Delaney Shifflett who came up with seven saves in the shutout. The Red Dragons also earned seven corner kicks while surrendering only a pair to Penn State.

Oneonta will have a week to prepare for its next match at Vassar next Saturday afternoon beginning at 2pm.
