The SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team fell to Roanoke today 2-0 at home on the opening day of the 2021 Oneonta Mayor's Cup Tournament. The loss for the Red Dragons dropped them to 0-3 overall while the Maroons remain undefeated at 4-0.

The Inside Story
Roanoke registered its first goal of the match in the 18
th minute of play. The play started with a long pass down the right flank, which was controlled by Morgan O'Neill. O'Neill got a step on the defender and pushed a shot by the Oneonta keeper to the short side.

The Maroons took its one-goal advantage along with a 7-3 shot advantage into the break.

Roanoke pushed its lead to 2-0 early in the second half on a goal by MC Petrucelli. Petrucelli received a pass from Cameron Shackford at the top of the box before chipping a shot over the head of the outstretched keeper.

Roanoke recorded 10 shots in the second half to take an overall 17-5 advantage in the match. The Maroons also earned seven corner kicks to only two for the hosts.
