After nearly 18 months since its last game, the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball team returned to action tonight against the Skidmore Thoroughbreds. The host Red Dragons came up on the short end of a 56-38 score.

The Inside Story
Both teams found the going tough in the opening quarter of play. Neither team shot particularly well, but Oneonta did find itself with a 9-4 lead entering the second quarter. Junior
Olivia Dobrovosky (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) led the Red Dragons with four points in the quarter.

Skidmore settled in during the second quarter shotting 46 percent from the field to grab a 22-18 lead at the break. Trailing 11-10, freshman Amelia Medolla buried a three to spark a 12-3 run, which gave Skidmore the lead for good in the game. Medolla led all scorers in the contest with 14 points that included 4-of-6 from behind the arc.

The visitors increased its lead to 10 points entering the fourth period outscoring the hosts 14-8 in the third period. Skidmore led by as many as 20 points in the final period after a layup by Medolla at the 3:49 mark.

Just the Stats
Senior
Megan Palmatier (Bainbridge/Bainbridge-Guilford) led Oneonta with a collegiate career high 13 points in 27 minutes of play. She also grabbed six boards and collected a pair of steals.

The Red Dragons shot 20 percent from the field while Skidmore was just shy of 38 percent. The Thoroughbreds made seven from long range to Oneonta's one. Oneonta outrebounded Skidmore 47-41 and registered nine steals.

What's Next
The battle of the hills is next up for Oneonta, as they host city rival Hartwick Tuesday, Nov. 9 beginning at 5:30pm.
