Oneonta, NY (Hartwick) - The Red Dragons Swimming and Diving Team had a difficult day in the pool with setbacks to their city rival Hartwick and conference rival New Paltz. The scores were 145-137 and 164-123 respectively. Both loses drop the Red Dragon squad to 0-6 on the season.
Highlights for The Red Dragon Women came in 100 yard backstroke when Senior Erin Clun took top position in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.96 just under two-seconds ahead of the runner-up from New Paltz. Clune later came back with her second win on the day edging out her New Paltz opponent by just .67 seconds in the 200 yard backstroke.Â
In the 400 yard freestyle relay the Red Dragons got a win when junior Kim Colella, sophomore
Emma Stephenson (Owego/Owego Free Academy), junior
Kayla Keddy (Queensbury/Queensbury) and freshman
Callie Stinson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac ) touched the wall with a recorded time of 3:54.98 just under two seconds ahead of the New Paltz Hawks runner-up.Â
The Red Dragons were victorious in the diving competitions as senior
Danielle Shaw (Pearl River/Pearl River) and Freshman
Paige Splendido (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) took top honors in both events held.
The SUNY Oneonta Women get back in action next Friday, November 19th at the Diamond City Invitational in Wilkes-Barre, PA with the heat getting underway at 9 AM.
