Host Hamilton College outscored visiting SUNY Oneonta 21-7 in the final quarter tonight to win going away in women's basketball action. The game was the season opener for the Continentals while the Red Dragons fall to 0-3 in the early season.

The Inside Story
Trailing 55-51 entering the fourth period, Oneonta shot only 3-13 from the floor and committed seven of its 24 turnovers allowing Hamilton to grab control of an otherwise close contest for the first three periods.

In the final period, Hamilton dominated in the paint scoring 14 of its 21 points in the quarter from inside.

The Red Dragons had an early 8-3 lead thanks to a couple of three-pointers from sophomore
Molly Stephens (LaGrange/Arlington) and freshman
Nadia Brown (Troy/Troy). Hamilton countered with 10 unanswered, which put them in front, as they secured a 20-14 lead after the first period.

Oneonta came out strong to begin the second period putting together an 11-5 run that brought them even at 25 apiece midway through the period. Junior
Olivia Dobrovosky (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) scored five points to lead the charge. Hamilton closed the quarter 16-11 to grab a 41-36 lead at halftime.

The two teams battled tightly during the third period each putting together runs. A 12-4 run by the hosts gave them its largest lead of the quarter 54-46 with just over two minutes remaining. Stephens scored the remaining five points of the quarter for Oneonta to bring them to within four points entering the final period.

Just the Stats
Hamilton had four players score in double figures in the contest led by Kelcie Zarle's 24 points. Dobrovosky was the high scorer for Oneonta with 13 points.

Oneonta had its best shooting night of the young season at 37.5% including 6-of-14 from behind the arc. Hamilton shot just over 41% while holding a 50-36 advantage on the glass.

Oneonta will be back on the road next Tuesday night at Utica College beginning at 7pm.
