The Inside Story
The weather didn't allow for much flow to the match with both teams trying to make the most of the waterlogged field conditions. The opening half went scoreless with a slight 5-3 shot advantage for the visitors.
Â
The lone goal of the game came in the 65
th minute on a direct kick just outside the box. Senior Sophia Richiusa set up for the kick and, instead of sending a shot in on goal, she sent a pass in that rolled along the ground to the right side of the goal box. When the ball arrived, there was a cluster of players hoping to gain control of the ball when freshman Katie Sellers beat the keeper to slide the ball over the goal line.
