The SUNY Oneonta women's volleyball team traveled to Oswego and swept the Lakers 3-0 tonight in SUNYAC action. The win for the Red Dragons pushes its overall record to 4-14 and 3-3 in the SUNYAC while the loss for Oswego dropped them to 7-11 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

The Inside Story
Tied at 7-7 in the first set, Oneonta scored six unanswered points to grab the lead for good. The Red Dragons benefitted from five attack errors and one bad set by the Lakers. Oswego battled back and got to within 14-12 before the Red Dragons ran off six straight points once again to put its lead at 20-12. Oneonta closed out the first set 25-14.

Neither squad could grab an advantage in the second set, as the lead exchanged hands multiple times throughout. Trailing 24-23 and staring at set point, Oneonta scored the final three points to win the set 26-24.

In the final set, the Red Dragons trailed for most of the set before coming back to close out the match 25-21. Oneonta closed the set with a 10-2 run after trailing 19-15. Junior
Casey Biggers (Holtsville/Sachem East) fueled the comeback with three kills while sophomore
Ashanti Davis (Cortlandt Manor/Hendrick Hudson) added one kill.

Carsyn Rachuta (Holbrook/Sachem North) contributed 13 digs and two aces while classmate
Kayla Rende (Wantagh/Wantagh) recorded 16 assists.

Oneonta will look to knock off rival Cortland tomorrow afternoon on the road in a match scheduled for 1pm.
