For the second straight game, the SUNY Oneonta women's basketball knocked off a top-4 team in the SUNYAC standings. Tonight, shooting a season best 52 percent, the Red Dragons defeated Buffalo State 78-74.

Nine different players scored in the contest for Oneonta (9-12, 6-8 SUNYAC) led by senior
Leanne Corso (Commack/Commack) who scored 20 points in 22 minutes off the bench. Classmate
Olivia Allrich (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) and junior
Clara Culeton (Oswego/Oswego) added 10 points and 12 points respectively.

Oneonta led 53-50 entering the final quarter before a three-pointer by Liv Lebaron gave Buffalo State (14-9, 10-6 SUNYAC) a 56-55 lead with 6:26 remaining. The two teams then took turns with the lead for the next two minutes until a three-pointer by freshman
Olivia Dobrovosky (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) gave Oneonta the lead for good. Dobrovosky's trey was the beginning of seven unanswered that put the Red Dragons in command at 68-62 with 2:46 left in the contest.

The Bengals cut its deficit to four points one minute later but an old fashioned three-point play by Corso pushed the advantage back to seven points. Buffalo State kept pressing and closed the gap to just a bucket with 26 seconds left but a pair of free throws by Corso secured the win. Corso was a perfect 7-of-7 from the line including four down the stretch.

Oneonta jumped out to a 17-9 lead at the end of one quarter. With the score knotted at 7 apiece with less than five minutes to go in the quarter, Oneonta took control closing out with a 10-2 run. Freshman
Lauren Obermayer (East Greenbush/Columbia) capped the quarter with a three-pointer with 10 seconds left.

The Bengals seized some momentum in the second quarter scoring 27 points to trail 36-35 at halftime. Oneonta scored the first six points of the quarter before Buffalo State made its run. Katie Villarini led the way for the Bengals with 11 points. Villarini led all players with 31 points in the game. Senior

Oneonta recorded 26 assists on 30 baskets tonight. Hayes led the way with a career best 11 to go with her seven points. The two teams were even on the glass with 36 rebounds each. Corso led everyone with 11 boards.
