Oneonta, NY - SUNY Cortland took down the home team in Women's Swimming and Diving defeating SUNY Oneonta 143.5 to 93.5 in the Chase Physical Education pool this afternoon.
The squad from Oneonta had a few noteworthy performances. The relay foursome of sophomore
Erin Clune (Kerhonkson/Rodout Valley), seniors
Kelly Carey (Suffern/Suffern), and
Nicole Lapinski (Pine Push/Pine Bush) and junior
Katherine London (Staten Island/St. Joseph Hill Academy) got things off on a great note for the home team as they touched up with a time of 1:54.30 more than two-seconds ahead of the Cortland runners-up in the 200 yard medley relay. Clune later came back and took the 100 yard backstroke timing in at 1:03.92 more than one-second ahead of the Cortland trailer. Â
The final highlight was in the 100 yard breaststroke which was a clean sweep for Oneonta with senior
Samantha Immitti (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy), Lapinski and freshman Nicole Colella taking win, place and show. Immitti securing a time of 1:14.12 with just over seven-seconds between the three.Â
The women will now prepare for the SUNYAC championship meet at Erie Community College in Buffalo beginning on Wednesday Feb. 19th.
