2010 Baseball Team voted No. 10 men's Team of the Decade

The 2010 Baseball Team finished with an overall record of 31-13 and 7-5 in the SUNYAC.  The Red Dragons jumped out of the gates and won its first 11 games of the season, which is the best start in program history to date.  The Red Dragons qualified for the conference tournament and knocked off top-seeded Cortland 7-1 in the opening game behind a masterful pitching performance by junior Dave Filak.  In its second game, Oneonta was upended by Brockport on a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning.  Unfortunately, the remainder of the tournament was cancelled due to weather and unplayable field conditions.  Oneonta's season was not over, as the Red Dragons received its first and only NCAA tournament berth in program history.

At the NCAA Regional Tournament, Oneonta dropped its opening game to Farmingdale State 9-5.  The Red Dragons then staved off elimination three times with victories against Brockport, 9-7, Keene State, 5-2 and Castleton State, 9-2.

With one win between them and a regional championship game appearance, Oneonta went hit-for-hit with St. John Fisher in an 11-inning thriller.  The Red Dragons trailed 4-2 until a two-run homer by senior Dan Randall in the seventh tied the game.

In the 11th inning, senior Carmine Caputo gave Oneonta a 5-4 lead with an RBI single.  In the bottom of the inning, the Cardinals tied the game with a solo home run and then walked off with an RBI single to take a 6-5 win.

Oneonta had three players named to the All-SUNYAC Team including Filak being selected as the Pitcher of the Year.  Filak went on to be an ABCA All-American before being drafted in the fourth round by the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball.
