Men's basketball races past Fredonia

Four players reach double figures

A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team left no doubts in this one tonight racing past Fredonia 81-40.  The Red Dragons have now won 10 of its last 11 games to raise its overall record 11-4 and 7-1 in the SUNYAC.
 
"We played well in stretches tonight and we're still trying to put 40 minutes together," commented Head Coach Cameron Conover.  "We have to be ready for a solid Buffalo State squad tomorrow."
 
The Inside Story
The Red Dragons jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after its first three possessions and never looked back.  Senior Kevin Mackin (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) got things started by draining a long three and, two possessions later, junior Sean Nolan (Voorheesville, NY/Voorheesville) added a layup.  Mackin finished the game with 13 points.
 
Oneonta broke the game wide open with a 16-1 outburst over a 10-minute span to take command of the contest pushing its lead to 21-5 with just under nine minutes remaining in the opening half.
 
By halftime, the Red Dragons found themselves ahead 36-13.  Mackin led the way with eight points.
 
The Red Dragons continued to expand its lead throughout the second half.  Sophomore Dylan Trombley (Moriah, NY/Moriah) paced Oneonta with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting in eight minutes of action.  Trombley was the high scorer in the game with 15 points.
 
Just the Stats
Oneonta dominated the glass in tonight's game holding a 53-29 advantage including 13-2 on the offensive end.  The Red Dragons collected 17 assists and scored 20 points off 17 Fredonia turnovers.
 
The reserves for Oneonta had a big game as well scoring 44 points led by Trombley and junior Kameron Hickey (Atlanta, GA/Etowah) who contributed a season high 13 points in 11 minutes.  Junior Andres Rivera (Bronx, NY/Walton) was also in double figures with 11 points in 17 minutes.
 
What's Next
The Red Dragons will entertain Buffalo State tomorrow in the Dewar Arena beginning at 4pm.
