Women's basketball wins going away at Brockport

A Quick Look
SUNY Oneonta led wire-to-wire including outscoring host Brockport 18-6 in the fourth quarter enroute to a 55-39 victory in SUNYAC women's basketball action tonight.  The win for the Red Dragons was its first conference win of the season while pushing its overall record to 4-8.
 
The Inside Story
Brockport (5-8, 2-4 SUNYAC) pulled to within a bucket at 39-37 with 8:32 remaining in the contest.  The Red Dragons then regained control when senior Leanne Corso (Commack/Commack) buried a three-pointer on the ensuing possession to push the lead back to five points.  Oneonta finished the game on a 13-2 run to win going away.
 
With the game tied at 4-4 midway through the opening stanza, Oneonta closed with a 7-2 outburst to grab an 11-6 lead after one quarter.  Freshman Lauren Obermayer (East Greenbush/Columbia) scored the final three points of the quarter for the Red Dragons.
 
The senior duo of Olivia Allrich (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) and Casey Hayes (New Hyde Park/Sewanhaka) combined for 11 points in the second quarter, as Oneonta took a 25-16 lead into halftime.
 
Brockport rallied in the third quarter posting 17 points to cut its deficit to four points entering the final quarter.  Both teams had their best shooting quarters percentage wise with Oneonta making 6-of-13 shots and the Golden Eagles making 5-of-14 including a pair of threes.
 
Just the Stats
Oneonta scored 34 points in the paint while holding Brockport to 20.  Oneonta's reserves outscored Brockport's 15-3 led by senior Corso's nine points.
 
Hayes led Oneonta with 12 points and eight boards.
 
What's Next
Oneonta will play at SUNY Geneseo tomorrow afternoon beginning at 2pm.
