Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 2 Men's Soccer outlasts Sage College 1-0

A Quick Look
The No. 2 ranked SUNY Oneonta men's soccer team battled through windy conditions today to outlast the host Sage College Gators 1-0.  The victory for the Red Dragons pushed its season record to 5-0.

"The wind made it difficult, but we stuck at it," said Head Coach Iain Byrne.  "Jeremy capped off a good individual performance with the winner."

The Inside Story
The two squads went into halftime deadlocked at 0-0.  Oneonta outshot the Gators 8-3 overall in the opening 45 minutes.

Sophomore Jeremy Pantoni (Goshen/Goshen) finally broke the scoreless tie in the 70th minute when junior Roberto Ventura (Brentwood/Brentwood) slotted a pass through the Gator defense before depositing a shot into the back of the goal.

Just the Stats
The Red Dragons finished the match with a 16-5 shot advantage while earning seven corner kicks.  Freshman keeper Nate Hanna (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) pushed aside two of the five shots he faced to record his third straight shutout in as many starts.

What's Next
Oneonta will stay on the road for its next match this upcoming Tuesday afternoon when they will be at Rensselaer beginning at 4pm.
