Men's lacrosse drops SUNYAC battle to Cortland

A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team suffered a 17-5 setback to SUNY Cortland in SUNYAC action on Saturday afternoon at Red Dragon Field.
 
The Inside Story 
Cortland (9-4, 4-0 SUNYAC) got off to a fast start, netting the first three goals of the game. Oneonta (6-8, 1-3 SUNYAC) finally got on the board with 5:33 remaining in the first quarter when Thomas Moore (Rockville Centre/South Side) connected with Andrew Stamatel (Glens Falls/Glens Falls). After Cortland tallied three straight goals, including two with a man-advantage, Oneonta got themselves back into the game with goals from Thomas Moore (Rockville Centre/South Side) and Andrew Stamatel (Glens Falls/Glens Falls). With 6:28 remaining in the first half, Cortland took control of the game by scoring eight unanswered goals to take a commanding 14-3 lead.

Andrew Stamatel (Glens Falls/Glens Falls) ended Cortland's run with 7:53 remaining in the third quarter with his 14 goal of the season. Stamatel would add another goal late in the third quarter to wrap up the scoring for Oneonta.

Oneonta goalie Zachary Flynn (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) stood on his head as he made 18 saves in the game. Andrew Stamatel (Glens Falls/Glens Falls) finished with four of Oneonta's five goals while Thomas Moore (Rockville Centre/South Side) had a goal and an assist.

What's Next
The Red Dragons will look to end their three game losing streak when they host Potsdam on Saturday, April 20th at 1:00 p.m.
