The SUNY Oneonta baseball was swept by Oswego State in a SUNYAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon with scores of 1-0 and 5-2. Oneonta is now 13-16 overall with a 4-11 mark in the SUNYAC
The Inside Story
Game 1
Both teams were scoreless until Oswego earned a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh inning. After Myles Felton got hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, he made his was to third on a wild pitch and a sacrifice bunt by Justin Troelstra. With Felton standing on third, Oneonta pitcher
Robert Ottaviano (Nanuet/Albertus Magnus) uncorked a wild pitch to allow Oswego to earn the 1-0 victory.
Robert Ottaviano (Nanuet/Albertus Magnus) suffered the loss after allowing just three hits and a walk in six and a third innings of work. The Red Dragons could only muster four hits in the game.
Game 2
Oswego jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on Casey Gruarin RBI and a Rocco Leone theft of home. The Lakers added to their advantage in the fourth on a Dylan Frawley RBI single through the left side.
The Red Dragons finally got their bats going in the top of the fifth when they scored two runs.
Patrick McGee (Mahopac/Mahopac) drove in
Jonathan Lezette (Saugerties/Saugerties) with a double into the left centerfield gap.
Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) pulled Oneonta within a run when he plated McGee with an RBI single.
That would be as close as Oneonta would get as Oswego added insurance runs in the sixth and the seventh to make the final score 5-2.

The Red Dragons will return home on Wednesday, April 16
th when they host Utica College at 4:00 p.m.
