Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women’s tennis drops non-traditional season match-up to RIT 8-1

Rochester, NY  The SUNY Oneonta women's tennis team have dropped their third match in a row for the first extended losing streak of the year.  The Red Dragons still have .682 winning pct. on the year with a healthy 15-7 win/lose mark.  This stretch of tennis has been tested against some elite division III teams and today's match was contested with two regular starters out of the lineup.

In all three doubles positions there were different pairings due to the depleted lineup.  Oneonta went down 3-0 after the doubles stanza was competed.
Singles though saw freshman Olivia Fraser (Queensbury/Queensbury) play up two spots from her regular fourth position and fill in at the second flight.  Fraser played highly competitive tennis today and won the first set 7-6 (8-6) with a thrilling tiebreak victory to give her some confidence.  The second set also went to a tiebreaker but Fraser was on the short end of that result 7-6 (6-8) and went to play an almost perfect super-tiebreaker outlasting and doubling up her opponent 10-5 and clinched very impressive win for the freshman.  The win for Fraser saved the Red Dragon women from being shutout today.

The Red Dragons lick their wounds and play Union College on Monday, April 8th at the Heissan Tennis Courts on the campus of SUNY Oneonta for their first home match of the spring beginning at 4 PM.
