A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team raced past Anna Maria 14-2 today in non-conference action.  The win for the Red Dragons evened its overall record at 5-5 while the AMCATS fall to 3-5 after the loss.
 
The Inside Story
Oneonta scored the game's first seven goals to leave to doubt about the final result.  Senior Stephen Panno (Holtsville/Sachem East) scored a pair of goals while classmate Thomas Moore (Rockville Centre/South Side) and sophomore Michael Benasutti (Centereach/Centereach) each had a goal and an assist.
 
Anna Maria scored single goals in the second and fourth periods.
 
Oneonta continued to build on its 7-1 halftime lead scoring four goals in the third and three more in the final period.
 
The highlight of the final period was freshman Jason Guevara (Shoreham/Shoreham-Wading River) notching his first collegiate goal.
 
Just the Stats
Oneonta finished the game with 63 shots and 47 ground balls.  They were successful on 25-of-26 clear attempts and caused 20 turnovers.
 
Panno finished the game with four goals and two assists to lead the offense.  Zachary Flynn (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) only had to make a pair of saves in recording his fifth win of the season.
 
What's Next
Oneonta will travel to Brockport on Saturday to open its 2019 SUNYAC schedule.  Faceoff is scheduled for 1pm.
