A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta softball team resumed play today at Muhlenberg and came away with a split of a doubleheader taking the second game 3-2 after dropping the first game by an identical score. Oneonta is now 5-7 overall and Muhlenberg is now 11-3.

The Inside Story
Game 1
Oneonta scored first in the top of the first inning when senior
Dana Del Genio (New Hartford/New Hartford) scored from third on a double steal. Del Genio walked to start the game, went to second on a passed ball and then stole third before coming in to score the game's first run.

Muhlenberg tied the score in the bottom of the first and then added two more runs in the home half of the second.

A sacrifice fly by senior
Lauren Sabatino (Bayville/Locust Valley) knocked in junior
Jade Meehan (Halcottsville/Roxbury Central) with the final run of the game in the top of the third.

Game 2
The Red Dragons scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning. Del Genio led off the inning with a single and then stole second before being sacrificed to third by Meehan. She scored on a single to left field by sophomore
Caroline Koch (New City/Clarkstown South).

Sabatino then doubled to put runners on second and third before a fielder's by junior
Brooke Corbett (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) knocked in Koch. Sabatino scored the third run of the inning on a single up the middle by sophomore
Amanda Sexton (Port Jervis/Port Jervis).

Freshman Katherine Davies pitched 5-2/3 innings allowing two hits and no earned runs to record her first collegiate victory. Junior
Alyssa Bluethgen (Commack/Commack) closed the door in relief to pick up her first save of the year.

Just the Stats
Corbett and Meehan each had two hits in game 1 while Del Genio collected a pair of hits in game 2.

What's Next
Oneonta is not scheduled to play again until Tuesday, Mar. 26 when they travel to nationally ranked Ithaca for a doubleheader beginning at 3pm.
