A Quick Look
The SUNY Oneonta baseball team dropped the finale of their SUNYAC series with Brockport 10-2 on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Red Dragons record to 7-8 overall and 2-4 in SUNYAC play.
The Inside Story
Brockport (5-4, 1-2 SUNYAC) led the entire game, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Brad Nowak put the Golden Eagles on the board with an RBI triple, scoring Aaron Cook for the first run of the ballgame. Ryan Mansell plated Nowak with a sacrifice fly before Lou Miceli capped off the inning with an RBI single to make the score 3-0.
Oneonta would cut the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth when
Mike Graves (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Central) drove in
James Zupo (Massapequa/Massapequa) with a single to center.
The Golden Eagles extended their lead with three more runs in the top of the fifth. Aaron Cook smacked an RBI triple to center, scoring Anthony Eaton to up the Brockport advantage to 4-1. Michael Spulnick broke the game open with a two-run single to center, plating Brad Nowak and Aaron Cook to make it 6-1. The Golden Eagles put the game out of reach with three more runs in the top of the sixth.
The Red Dragons were able to get one run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI groundout by
Chris Saitch (Kingston/Kingston), but that would be as close as they would get. Oneonta was able to out together nine hits on the day but they stranded 13 runners on base.
Dominic Lamonica (Stony Brook/Ward Melville),
John Zinko (Wallkill/Wallkill),
James Zupo (Massapequa/Massapequa) and
Sean McGlynn (New Hartford/New Hartford) had two hits apiece for the Red Dragons.
Dean Langman (New Hartford/New Hartford) suffered the loss for Oneonta after allowing three runs in an inning and two thirds.
Christopher DiDomizio (Cortlandt Manor/Lakeland) tossed two and a third innings of scoreless relief while striking out two Golden Eagles.

The Red Dragons return to action on Wednesday, March 20
