The Inside Story
In a low scoring opening two periods of play, the Golden Eagles grabbed a slim 4-3 lead heading into halftime.  St. Joe's held a 3-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and both teams traded goals in the second quarter.  Oneonta senior Stephen Panno (Holtsville/Sachem East) scored two of his four goals in the opening 30 minutes.  Max Chin notched a pair to lead the Golden Eagles.

The flood gates opened in the third quarter with the two squads combining to score 14 goals including eight goals in the final 4:30.  The two teams exchanged goals to start the quarter before St. Joe's ripped off three unanswered to take an 8-4 lead.  The Red Dragons countered with three straight goals of its own including back-to-back goals by senior Thomas Moore (Rockville Centre/South Side).

The Golden Eagles then ran off four consecutive goals to take its largest lead of the game to that point at 12-7.  Tim McCann and Anthony Passarella shared the goals each tallying a pair.

Back-to-back goals by Panno in the final 49 seconds of the third quarter brought Oneonta back to within three scores, but that would be as close as they would get for the remainder of the contest.  St. Joe's would outscore Oneonta 4-1 in the final quarter for the final margin of victory.
