Kevin Mackin (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) dropped 23 points to lead the SUNY Oneonta men's basketball team to an 82-77 come-from-behind victory today at the Carol De Costa tournament hosted by Medgar Evers. Oneonta (4-3) will play the host Cougars tomorrow at 3pm.

"Today was a gut check win," said Head Coach
Cameron Conover. "NC Wesleyan is a very good team with talented players at every position. We didn't shoot the ball well, especially early, but we made the shots down the stretch. I really liked our focus on the defensive end the last 10 minutes of the game."

The Inside Story
Mackin led the comeback in the second half scoring 14 of his game high 23 points. Mackin connected on three shots from behind the arc in both halves. As a team, the Red Dragons made 11 shots from long range including six in the second half.

The Red Dragons trailed by as many as 13 points and still trailed 62-50 with 11:26 remaining before beginning its comeback.

Andres Rivera (Bronx, NY/Walton) converted a pair of free throws to slice the deficit to single digits. Two free throws and a trey by sophomore
Dylan Trombley (Moriah, NY/Moriah) capped 10 unanswered to tie the game at 66 apiece with 6:35 left.

The score would be tied twice more at 69 and 72 before the Red Dragons scored five straight points to create some breathing room with one-minute remaining. Mackin put the finishing touches on the victory with a pair of free throws.

Oneonta went down by 14 points in the opening half of play before rallying back to trail 41-35 at the break. Rivera led the Red Dragons with 10 points in the half.

Oneonta converted 18 NC Wesleyan turnovers into 21 points. The Red Dragons outscored NC 15-4 from the free throw line including making 13-of-19 in the second half.

Harrison Deegan (Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam Valley) posted 13 points. Trombley led the reserves with 14 points.
