The Inside Story
The host Hartwick Hawks outscored visiting SUNY Oneonta 53-47 in the second half to overcome a two-point halftime deficit enroute to an 82-78 win tonight. A three-point basket by Bobby Connors gave Hartwick (4-1) the lead for good at the 13:42 mark. Connors finished the game with 13 points before fouling out.

Connors bucket was part of an 18-7 run that pushed the Hawks' largest advantage to nine points with 7:43 remaining.

Oneonta scored seven unanswered points to close the gap to 59-57 a little more than one-minute later. Deegan capped the mini spurt with an old fashioned three-point play.

Over the next few minutes, the Hawks enjoyed a 4 to 6 point lead. A jumper by junior
Andres Rivera (Bronx, NY/Walton) at 2:43 brought Oneonta as close as it would come for the rest of the game. Hartwick made three of its 13 three-pointers over the final stretch putting the game out of reach for the Red Dragons.

A balanced scoring attack helped Oneonta grab a 31-29 lead at halftime. Rivera scored eight of his 14 points in the opening half. A 15-7 run for Oneonta broke a 16-16 tie midway through the half that lifted them to its largest lead of eight points with just over three minutes to go. Hartwick countered with six unanswered to end the half.

Just the Stats
Hartwick's biggest advantage came from behind the arc recording 13 to seven for Oneonta. The Red Dragons held advantage in second chance points (19-14) and points in the paint (34-28).

What's Next
Oneonta will travel to Binghamton University next Tuesday night for an exhibition game against the Division I Bearcats beginning at 7pm.
